The Financial Counselor is responsible for educating, instructing and counseling patients regarding payment policies and public assistance programs on behalf of Broadlawns Medical Center (BMC). The Financial Counselor must follow established procedures, and prioritize workflow to ensure patients lacking sufficient third party funding are advised of optimal funding program(s). The incumbent must be able to handle potentially stressful situations and multiple tasks. The incumbent must have a good understanding of cash posting as to appropriately post self pay payments. The Financial Counselor will routinely interact with various internal and external contacts including PFS management, patients, patient families, third party payors, government agencies and physicians.
This position is generally scheduled full-time 7:30a-4p (40 hours per week).
