For our Urology business area, we are looking for an Account Manager Urology Prostate Health for the Region of Hessen, Rhineland Palatinate.
The Account Manager is responsible for managing the entire sales cycle within the Urology Prostate Health portfolio in Germany. This includes identifying and developing commercial opportunities, implementing account plans, and promoting regional and local sales strategies. The AM ensures market growth, product positioning, and penetration of Boston Scientific by engaging both clinical stakeholders (urologists, key opinion leaders, operating room staff) and economic stakeholders (hospital administration, purchasing, payers) in the assigned area.
The portfolio includes the full range of Boston Scientific options for customers and patients to treat BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia)—including capital goods and consumable products. The AM must balance long-term capital investment discussions with recurring consumable sales. An essential part of the role is maintaining a healthy pipeline of new opportunities, their efficient development in the sales cycle, and closing deals to secure sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing detailed market information (market size, trends, competitive activities, reimbursement landscape, stakeholder mapping) to the Regional Sales Manager and marketing.
- Contributing to annual strategic planning with account-specific insights.
Account-Management:
- Developing and implementing detailed account plans to address unmet needs and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Supporting the Regional Sales Manager in Tier-1 strategy accounts; independently managing Tier-1, Tier-2, and Tier-3 accounts.
- Ensuring alignment with national and regional sales goals.
- Maintaining a healthy pipeline of new opportunities across all accounts, continuously identifying and qualifying prospects, efficiently developing them in the sales cycle, and closing deals to drive future growth.
Stakeholder-Engagement:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with urology key opinion leaders, clinical staff, and hospital decision-makers.
- Promoting health economic arguments to secure product positioning and acceptance.
- Stakeholder mapping, defining touchpoints, and maintaining current account information in CRM.
Sales-Implementation:
- Identifying and pursuing sales opportunities arising from clinical support activities.
- Leading tender preparation and negotiation in collaboration with the Tender Office to ensure timely and compliant submissions.
- Developing deal models and IPATs to support Regional Sales Managers in top-tier accounts.
- Conducting regular customer visits to strengthen partnerships and explore new opportunities.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Collaborating with clinical colleagues to leverage clinical evidence in commercial discussions.
- Providing regular updates through CRM, sales meetings, and quarterly business reports.
- Utilizing reporting tools to monitor performance and ensure effective implementation of sales processes.
Quality & Compliance:
- Primary commitment to patient safety and product quality through adherence to Boston Scientific's quality policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines, and ethical standards.
Area of Responsibility & Competencies:
- Expertise: Advanced knowledge in prosthetic urology, implantable devices, and dynamics of the German healthcare market.
- Business-Expertise: Basic understanding of hospital procurement processes, reimbursement pathways, and competitive landscape.
- Leadership: Individual role with responsibility for personal sales goals and account outcomes.
- Problem-solving: Applying judgment to resolve simple commercial and clinical challenges.
- Impact: Direct influence on account performance, customer satisfaction, and market share growth.
- Communication: Clear presentation and explanation of data to internal teams and external stakeholders; adapting messages to clinical and economic audiences.
Profile Requirements:
- Proven sales experience in the medical device industry, ideally in urology or with implantable products.
- In-depth understanding of the German healthcare system, hospital procurement, and tendering processes, ideally with an existing network of relevant stakeholders.
- Ability to build trust with clinical key opinion leaders and economic decision-makers.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in German and English.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 80% within Germany, including overnight stays.
- Ability to support customers in the clinical environment, including the operating room, by providing product expertise, procedural support, and ensuring the safe and effective use of Boston Scientific technologies.
