Community Implementation Specialist, GIM Research

SafeSpot Overdose Hotline is seeking a highly motivated and mission-driven Community Implementation Specialist to play a critical role in expanding our reach, recruiting a diverse workforce, and completing SafeSpot's accreditation with the International Council for Helplines. This position is ideal for a professional with strong communication skills, a passion for harm reduction, and experience in community engagement.

The Community Implementation Specialist will be responsible for growing SafeSpot's presence in new and existing regions, building partnerships with key stakeholders, supporting recruitment efforts, assisting with accreditation tasks, and representing SafeSpot at events. The Specialist will also provide operational support to the Hotline Director, Operations Coordinator, and Safety Coordinator, and take hotline calls during surges when needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to complete SafeSpot's accreditation with the International Council for Helplines by tracking progress, coordinating tasks, and ensuring compliance with all standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather required documentation and develop policies to meet accreditation criteria.
  • Liaise with accreditors to host the site visit and problem solve any challenges during the process.
  • Build relationships with community partners, harm reduction organizations, treatment providers, and other stakeholders in Maine, Connecticut, and other regions where SafeSpot operates.
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to recruit individuals with lived or living experience for hotline roles.
  • Represent SafeSpot at local and regional events, meetings, and conferences to promote the hotline and strengthen partnerships.
  • Work with the Hotline Director and Communications Team to develop strategies that increase the hotline's visibility and accessibility to people in need.
  • Assist with public relations and media opportunities to raise awareness of SafeSpot's services.
  • Assist the Hotline Director with administrative tasks, including scheduling, reporting, and policy development.
  • Provide operational support to the Operations Coordinator and Safety Coordinator, ensuring smooth day-to-day hotline operations.
  • Take hotline calls during periods of high demand or surges to ensure service continuity.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality assurance activities.

Job Requirements:

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Masters (MPH) preferred
  • Trained hotline operator at SafeSpot
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community engagement, public health, or workforce development.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of harm reduction principles and experience working with individuals affected by substance use.
  • Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to travel regionally (up to 20%) and take on occasional evening/weekend responsibilities.
