Help Desk/Jr. Systems Admin
Blackstone Talent Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency is seeking a Help Desk/Jr. Systems Admin to join our client's team.
The individual in this role will serve as the first line of defense for all user level interactions and issues, providing in person, secure phone, email, and instant message support. As a customer facing position, the incumbent must combine refined customer service skills with solid IT expertise and be comfortable diagnosing and troubleshooting problems for remote users on a daily basis.
Core responsibilities include:
- Creating domain accounts (with restricted security group assignment), performing user password resets, troubleshooting user VDI and thin client environments, and installing and supporting applications.
- Collaborating closely with the Active Directory team and compliance/patching administrators to refine update processes and procedures, monitoring dedicated helpdesk phone lines and chat channels to address C2BMC-G team requests, and routing user requests to the appropriate support teams for resolution.
Requirements
- Active Final TOP SECRET clearance required prior to starting, with eligibility to obtain a TS/SCI.
- Must possess DoD 8140 IAT Level II compliant certificate such as CompTIA Security+ CE or other certs such as CISSP or CASP. If does not have certification on start date, should be able to attain cert within 60 days of start.
- Experience with system administration in both Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues for users in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with Active Directory including user management, creating and applying security groups, and implementing and applying group policies against user and computer objects.
- Familiarity with a scripting language, such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python, and automation tools, such as Ansible.
- Experience with using a help desk ticketing system, such as Atlassian JIRA, for recording details of work performed and tracking information for future reference.
- Ability to develop documentation including standard operating procedures (SOP) of complex technical solutions and procedures using enterprise tools such as Atlassian Confluence.
- Experience supporting users in an enterprise-level system, demonstrating your ability to handle complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules.
- Prior experience with a Hyperconverged on-prem cloud platform such as Nutanix or VMware.
- 3 to 4 years experience with supporting users in an enterprise level system.
- Some experience with writing standard operating procedures (SOP) documentation.
- Comfortable with interacting professionally with users and customers in an IT service type setting including via phone, email, IM, and face to face communications.
- Experience with installing and troubleshooting windows and linux applications.
- Experience with using a help desk ticketing system (such as Atlassian JIRA) for recording details of work performed and details for future use.
- Ability to write and edit technical documentation of processes/procedures in solutions such as Atlassian Confluence.
- Top Secret Clearance with an eligibility for SCI and SAP.
Desired Skills:
- Windows 10/11 administrative experience in an enterprise environment.
- RedHat 7/8/9 administrative experience in an enterprise environment.
- Microsoft Active Directory for tasks such as creating/modifying users.
Education:
Career level typically with an advanced degree and 3+ years experience or bachelors with 5+ years experience or equivalent; wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in their field and provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with imaginative and thorough solutions; works under general direction, and results are reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives; failure to achieve results normally results in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources; frequent internal and external customer contacts and represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
