National Account Manager, Retail

The National Account Manager is responsible for achieving volume and profit objectives for major Club/Wholesale and select Retail accounts. The NAM develops and executes account specific strategies to deliver topline sales and profits; monitors performance verses those objectives and adjusts as needed. The NAM is to own the account business results, including volume, trade spend, profit, and marketing execution objectives. The NAM is responsible for the management of our broker in the market, at both headquarter level, as well as at retail.

Sales management experience must include experience managing Costco, Sam's Club, and Walmart business. Value/Dollar chain experience is a plus. Travel expectation is up to 50%.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads sales initiatives and activities with direct customers and broker(s) for retail execution.
  • Develops relationships and conduct sales calls with key customer decision makers, delivering compelling presentations on pricing, products, and promotional programs.
  • Supports the development of long-term strategic planning, annual operating plans, and major product launches.
  • Optimizes promotional trade spend to maximize margin, revenue and volume growth.
  • Builds and executes a strategic sales plan for our key customers to deliver performance goals (volume, NS, VGM) and optimize distribution and promotions each year to ensure ongoing success.
  • Analyzes sales data and customer trends to identify opportunities for growth and increased account penetration.
  • Prepares regular sales reports, providing insights into sales performance, trends, and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Marketing and Supply Chain, to optimize inventory planning, pricing strategies, and promotional execution.
  • Forecasts monthly sales and communicates internally to production planning and financial forecasting.

Competitive Compensation: The expected pay range for this role is between $150,000-$160,000, although a final salary offer is dependent on the candidate's experience level and skill set. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position participates in a sales incentive plan and offers a vehicle reimbursement program.

We're Looking for Someone With (must-haves):

  • 5+ years retail/CPG sales management experience. Experience must include experience managing Costco, Sam's Club, and Walmart business. Value/Dollar chain experience is a plus.
  • A history of success in working with and managing broker organizations.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; MBA preferred.
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Possesses a valid Driver's License.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong presentation and communication skills, ability to quickly respond to questions or concerns, and handle adversity and objections well.
  • Proficiency in using all Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and PowerBI.
  • Exceptional negotiation, account management, strategic selling, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with data driven execution, utilizing syndicated data (i.e. Circana/Nielsen), and customer specific data insights (i.e. Retail Link/Madrid).
