A 1-year remote contractor opportunity is currently available with the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office of Science Quality and Library Services (OSQLS) Knowledge Management (KM) Team. The OSQLS KM team is responsible for a suite of systems that support electronic scientific clearance; a public access repository; content management; and, routing of other documents, forms, and plans. Knowledge Management systems support the Centers, Institutes, and Offices (CIOs) at the CDC. The KM team also provides training and guidance on system use to support research and compliance. Among these systems is the publicly available CDC Stacks repository for public health publications and data tailored for public health research. This repository is retained indefinitely and is available for public health professionals, researchers, as well as the general public, in compliance with federal public access policy and law. Other systems developed and maintained by the KM team to support the scientific research and publishing process are designed for internal CDC use only. Each of these systems supports CDC's implementation of Public Access and Open Science (OS). As CDC puts greater emphasis on Open Science concepts and practices, the Knowledge Management team has been tasked to lead Open Science implementation. The KM team would like to add a talented and experienced Open Science expert to their team. Joining the OSQLS KM team, the selected candidate will provide support to CDC researchers in creating open science packages that enable replication and support transparency; will analyze existing KM systems and recommend enhancements to meet OS goals; and, will work with the KM Open Science team to rapidly create and provide OS implementation training and guidance to CDC researchers.
