Technical Specialist

Supervised by/Reports to: Information Technology Specialist

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Goal: This position is responsible for providing technical support at the local school level.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and successful passage of the Work Keys Test is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or industry certifications preferred.
  • Experience preferred in troubleshooting a wide variety of technology hardware and software.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Provide technical assistance and advice at the local school level.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of communication, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software.
  • Report issues to the district IT staff in a timely manner and follow up until issue is resolved.
  • Coordinate a maintenance program to ensure proper usage of technology systems and equipment.
  • Confer with contractors and company representatives to implement new installations and perform upgrades.
  • Assess condition of and need for equipment and recommend the purchase of new/additional equipment deemed necessary.
  • Provide necessary training to local staff to ensure effective operation of equipment.
  • Maintain inventory.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. Manual dexterity is required. The employee must be able to communicate orally. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary: Salary to be established by The Limestone County School's District Salary Schedule.

Terms of Employment: 187 days
